LettersAugust 23, 2010 Do children and adults receive equal human rights protection from violence? No! The Leon Burson American Legion Post 395 would like to thank HD Backhoe & Bob’s Septic, Wendt’s True Value Hardware and Leo’s Trophies & Gifts for the generous donations made toward The Back-Yard BBQ Cook Off at the Plano Fun Festival on Aug. 14, along with a very special thank you to Plano Building Community for putting on the event. August 17, 2010 It has come to light, recently, that the sheriff’s department has been using credit cards quite lavishly. Many have been using your tax dollars to pay for meals and drinks at nearly every restaurant in Kendall County. These bills total thousands of your dollars (to see the actual bills, e-mail me at robyn@robyn4kendall.com). Plano’s “Free Lunch for Kids Program” was a success. It spanned seven weeks over the summer, noon to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. A high total was 101 meals served to children 18 years old and younger on a single day. Members of Circle of Sharing wish to thank everyone who purchased handcrafted items at their booth at Redbud Creek Farm Garden Festival. A total of $209.50 was donated to Safe Passage in DeKalb, VetDogs, Meds & Food for Kids in Haiti and Equine Dreams in Sandwich. August 9, 2010 Some local newspapers criticized four Oswego village trustees who voted to provide only required public utilities to the developers of the Alexander Square project. One paper’s headline was “Downtown Oswego takes a step backward.” These papers missed the mark in their reporting. Thank you to Jake Saltzman, First Response Drain Service; Chris Jacobs and Pete Dannenburg of Jon’s Excavating; and the street department for helping the Sandwich Historical Society with the plumbing problem at the Stone Mill Museum. We appreciate your support and kindness. Members of the Sandwich Lions Club participated in the Lions of Illinois Foundation 2010 Tootsie Pop Days. Thank you to everyone who contributed on those days to help continue the services provided through the Lions of Illinois Foundation to the blind, visually impaired, deaf, and hearing impaired people of Sandwich and other areas in Illinois. It is July 21, the morning after the second meeting on special use zoning of the property at 405 S. Hale St. |
