On March 10, Gov. Quinn will make his annual budget address. Quinn has made it clear that he believes the only way out of the state’s financial mess is to raise our taxes.
The Fern Dell kumla and ham supper and silent auction were a great success, thanks to the many volunteers and generous donations. The Millbrook Junior High students did a fantastic job of serving, cleaning tables and washing dishes.

The Plano United Methodist Church Education Committee, together with Plano Hometown Lanes, hosted a “Bowl for Fun” afternoon on Sunday, Feb. 21.
Hi, it’s me again, the Gjovik Chevrolet employee, who’s trying to save our Buick and GMC franchise here in Sandwich. Let me start by thanking all who have signed our petition to General Motors Corp. We still need your support to achieve success. And we would like the support of more customers, friends and neighbors to sign our petition to GM.

To all of the voters who came out on Primary Tuesday to vote, I thank you. Our process relies on informed, engaged citizens. Without you, elected officials would not be held accountable.
Due to the increased number of families accessing the Kendall County Food Pantry this year, we are adjusting our Easter Basket Gift Program to meet the growing needs. In the past, we were able to give Easter baskets to every child and family registered at the pantry. Because of the growing demands on resources and the increasing needs within our communities, we will give family Easter gift baskets to each and every registered family at the Kendall County Food Pantry this year.
The Feb. 2 Northville Township Trustee referendum to contract with the LaSalle County Sheriff for additional police protection was soundly defeated by a margin of 57 percent to 43 percent. If this referendum had passed, no additional deputies would have been hired, and the Northville Township homeowners would be paying time-and-a-half overtime, because the existing deputies would have to work on their scheduled day off.
The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 1486 would like to thank everyone who came to our chili dinner on Feb. 13 and helped make it a success. Special thanks to Mayor Tom Thomas and Susan Tyrrell for their donations, and to the members of the post for their help.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our (now former) Caterpillar patients for their past support. It is difficult to start any new business and your patronage was instrumental in our successful first year. We think of our patients as friends, and miss seeing and caring for you already.
LaSalle County was able to secure $300,000 in state funds, enough to resurface Hoxsey Road (County Highway 2) from 46th Road north to County Line Road (LaSalle Street) in Somonauk, courtesy of the swift actions of the LaSalle County’s Highway Engineer, Larry Kinzer.

As we, the family of Dan Hardekopf, cope with the shocking death of our father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend due to a fire on Dec. 21, 2009, in Blanchardville, Wis., we want to thank everyone for their visits, hugs, phone calls, cards, food, flowers, memorials, kind thoughts and stories of Danny’s life.
As taxpaying residents, we urge the Kendall County Board to approve the landfill ban. There should be no new landfills, or expansions, in Kendall County.  Landfills are a health hazard, and Kendall County already responsibly takes care of its waste. New waste management technologies will be realistically available in just the next few years; therefore, a new or expanded Kendall County landfill would be an irresponsible and irreparable choice.
This letter is to thank everyone who supported me, voted for me and, particularly, my campaign workers.
I have sent this to President Obama, Debbie Halverson, Roland Burris and Richard Durbin.
