SANDWICH – Fox Valley area residents who have grown weary from the record nine consecutive days of snowfall are invited to think ahead to warm summer nights on the lake by joining Indian Valley Theatre for its special two-weekend engagement of “On Golden Pond.”
Directed by Matthew Johnson, written by Ernest Thompson, with rights by Dramatist Play Service Inc., IVT’s “On Golden Pond” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. March 2, 3, 9 and 10 and 2 p.m. March 4 and 11.
Helping to bring summertime lake life to the stage of the historic Sandwich Opera House will be Owego resident Heidi Swarthout, who will play the role of Chelsea.
As the only child of Norman and Ethel Thayer, Chelsea is a middle-aged divorcée who brings her new fiancé, Bill Ray, and his daughter, Billi, to meet the elder Normans during their 48th summer in northern New England on Golden Pond.
Although this is Swarthout’s first role with IVT, she has performed in numerous productions, including as Isabella in “Troupe Strozzi,” Cass in “Wonder of the World,” Mrs. Daldry in “In The Next Room, or The Vibrator Play,” Honey in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,” various roles in “Crumbs in Bed” and Jess in “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged.”
All shows will take place at the Sandwich Opera House, 140 E. Railroad St. in Sandwich. Tickets cost $15 each in advance and can be purchased online at www.indianvalleytheatre.com or $18 at the door one hour before curtain.
