New Life for Old Bags

North St. Volunteers turn discarded plastic shopping bags into plastic yarn to be crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless. Donations of plastic bags can be left at the library. Veterans Day Dinner

5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Plano American Legion Post 395, 510 E. Dearborn St. Menu includes roast pork loin, stuffed chicken breast, seasoned mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, dinner rolls, dessert and coffee. Guest speaker is Petty Officer 1st Class Ken B. Donut Dash 5K/10K

8:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Sandwich Fairgrounds, 1401 Suydam Road. Registration from 7 to 8:15 a.m. Cost is $35 the day of the race. Bring your dog and have fun running or walking with them. A Donut Dash Pancake Breakfast also will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.; purchase tickets from Boy Scout Troop 45. Cornerstone Church Food Pantry

12:30 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month – next, Nov. 7 – at Cornerstone Church, 17347 Pratt Road. Cornerstone provides food for families in Sandwich, Somonauk, Plano and Sheridan. Identification and proof of residency, such as a utility bill, are required.

Adult Craft Night

124th Annual Turkey Dinner
