Open Roads ABATE announces book winners

Open Roads ABATE of IL Chapter sponsored a summer book run.

The book run consisted of 50 businesses and places of interest with most businesses located from Route 47 to the Mississippi River and I-80 to the Wisconsin state line. The object of the book run was for participants to travel and patronize all the businesses, get the books stamped, and attend a post party where the winners of the book run were drawn.

More than 160 people bought books, and those who were eligible for raffles and cash prizes attended the book party on Oct. 7. The third-place cash prize winner was Ed Schultz and the winner for first and second cash prizes was Sally Kolb. A total of $750 was given to first, second and third places and $750 will be donated to ABATE of IL Inc. for safety and education programs.

Three people were presented plaques for collecting stamps from every business in the book – Cliff Oleson, Frank Lorang and Bob Ganze. Due to the success of these books, there will be a 2018 summer book. For more information, call Linda at 630-552-3828.
