U of I Extension hosts two free gardening webinars in July

Learn more about lawn care and backyard fruit production – all from the comfort of your own computer and at no cost – with the University of Illinois Extension Four Seasons webinars this July.

Early in the month, join Extension Horticulture Educator Chris Enroth for “Sustainable Lawn Care.” Americans dedicate vast sums of land and dollars to lawn upkeep, but often still find frustration. Enroth will discuss steps homeowners can take to make lawns more sustainable while saving time and money. Topics include turf species, soil health, fertilizer, irrigation, lawn culture and more. This webinar will be presented at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, and again at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13.

The series continues in late July with “Grow Your Own Backyard Tree Fruit” with Extension Horticulture Educator Andrew Holsinger. He will provide basics on backyard tree fruits, including selection, training, pruning and management. This free online presentation will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, and at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27.

The free Four Seasons program focuses on environmental stewardship, home gardening, and backyard food production, with new topics explored each season. All Four Seasons webinar sessions can be viewed online for free, but participants must register in advance at go.illinois.edu/4seasons_webinars.
