Free hearing, vision screening coming to Sandwich

The Sandwich Lions Club, in cooperation with Fox Valley Older Adult Services, will host the Lions of Illinois Foundation mobile hearing and vision screening units from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, May 22, at FVOAS Center, 1406 Suydam Road, Sandwich.

Two free screening services will be offered free of charge courtesy of the Sandwich Lions Club. Anyone 18 and older, as well as ages 10 to 17 if accompanied by an adult, can have hearing screened to help protect the hearing of the public through an early alert system.  Deafness has no respect of age, wealth or risk. It strikes people of all economic, social and age categories.

Diabetic retinopathy screening for persons with diabetes, or those at risk for diabetes, will also be offered. The quality of life for people with diabetic retinopathy and other retinal disorders, such as macular degeneration, is dramatically impacted. Since early detection of such disorders is critical, persons with diabetes or those 55 and older are encouraged to take advantage of this free screening.
