New Life for Old Bags

10:30 a.m. to noon the second Saturday of each month – next, April 8 – at the Plano Community Library, 15 W. North St. Volunteers turn discarded plastic shopping bags into plastic yarn to be crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless. Donations of plastic bags can be left at the library. United Methodist Men
Chili & Soup Dinner

4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the United Church of Sandwich, 512 Lions Road. Homemade chili and chicken noodle soup will be served with dessert and beverage. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 to 12. Children younger than 6 eat for free. Tickets can be purchased in advance from a United Methodist Men member or church office at 815-786-9243. Deliveries can be arranged for those shut-in.

Ham Dinner

“Christ in the Passover”

American Legion Fish Fries

5 to 7:30 p.m. Fridays at the Sheridan American Legion Post 729, 300 W. Si Johnson Ave. The fish fry includes a choice of catfish or cod, fried or poached, with fries, hush puppies and a complete salad bar for $8.50. Carry-outs are available by calling 815-496-2380.

​The April 7 special is an open-faced roast pork sandwich, mashed potatoes, gravy and carrots and includes the salad bar.
