Remembering Norway's one-room school
Wayne Borchsenius provided this photo from about 1930 from Norway's one-room school. In the first row are Lloyd Jacobson, Howard Trait, Maynard Rabe and Joseph Twait; second row, Martell Tuntland, Oliv Bastian, Lawrence Bastian, Wayne Borchsenius, Lois Twait and LaVrne Rabe; back row, teacher Lois Middleton. As in most one-room schools, Miss Middleton was teacher, janitor, nurse, etc. She later married teacher/farmer John Olson and they spent the rest of their married life teaching and farming in the area. Five of the eight boys spent long tours of duty in World War II.
