Plano Legion Auxiliary delivers holiday baskets

Published: Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 3:05 p.m. CDT

The Plano Legion Women’s Auxiliary was pleased to deliver 100 holiday fruit and gift baskets to our local shut-in veterans, Legion and community members in December.

Fifty baskets were donated by the staff at Centrue Bank of Sandwich, Plano and Yorkville. The Plano Lutheran Church ladies helped by donating handmade cards, suggested by Jerri Lynn Baker. Jane Kubisak and the Ewe Knitters donated several handmade lap quilts for veterans who spend a large amount of time seated and in wheelchairs. Several area residents donated homemade cookies and candies which we placed in the baskets.

Deliveries were made by Legion, Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion members and members of the community including Debbie Gillette of Kendall County offices. We also included delivery to our gold-star mother in Ottawa and the Illinois Veterans Home.

A sincere thank you to all who participated; we could not do it without you. This was a record year for making and delivering the baskets. We hope everyone will again participate next year. God bless you for supporting our efforts.
