RSVP seeks senior volunteers

YORKVILLE — Resolve to make a difference in the community in 2013.

Volunteers 55 and older are encouraged to join the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), which recruits and places volunteers in Kendall County in a wide range of assignments. After completion of a volunteer application, an interview is scheduled to assess interests and availability.

Coordinators work with your schedule to assist you in finding a meaningful opportunity. Examples of volunteer opportunities include: visitors for isolated seniors, drivers who can transport seniors to errands such as doctor appointments or to the pharmacy, delivering meals or preparing meals for seniors through the meals on wheels program or assisting the Kendall County Department of Health in mock disaster drills.

RSVP volunteers are entitled to benefits including excess liability insurance, meal and mileage reimbursement, where applicable, and yearly recognition parties. To learn more about RSVP, contact volunteer coordinator Kathy Bjerrum at 630-553-5777.
