SYCAMORE — State Rep. Bob Pritchard, R-Hinckley, met with his 2012-13 Youth Advisory Council recently to discuss the legislative process and current issues. The council consists of students – juniors or seniors – from each high school within the 70th House District.

Pritchard calls the feedback provided by the Youth Council a vital element in his ability to represent the district’s youth.

“I believe it is very important for our students to become engaged in current affairs, share their opinions on issues facing the state, and learn about careers in public service,” Pritchard said.

Members of the Youth Advisory Council are chosen by their school and serve as representatives of the student body. Pritchard feels student input is critical for the state and the future of democracy.

The Youth Advisory Council experience lasts into the spring legislative session and culminates in a two-day trip to Springfield.

Members will meet with constitutional officers, state staff and lobbyists as well as tour the Lincoln Museum and state capital.
