Handbell choirs entertain

Sister Carol Stevens, OSF, will bring her handbell choirs to entertain the Golden Harvesters in Plano on Friday, Dec. 14.

PLANO — The Golden Harvesters will meet at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 for a potluck supper at the First Lutheran Church, Plano. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to pass and table service; meat and beverages will be provided.

After the potluck, visitors will be entertained by the handbell choirs conducted by Sister Carol Stevens, OSF.  The handbell choirs of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Aurora and the handbell choir from St. John the Baptist Parish in Somonauk will play. Both provide music for worship in their respective churches and perform around the area as requested.

The Aurora group works with a four-octave set of bells while the Somonauk group has a three-octave set of bells as well as a three-octave set of chimes. Both intergenerational groups are comprised of volunteers who enjoy making music together.

This is an open house people of for any age who enjoy listening to the bells.

There will be no meeting in January due to weather. In February, the Little Rockets 4-H Club will present a talent show. Last Night’s Fun will provide music to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in March. Bingo will be played at the April meeting.
