The LaVerne W. Anderson American Legion Post 0729 in Sheridan recently donated $824.19 to the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle in honor of resident Howard F. Massette, World War II veteran and member of Post 0729. Massette served in the Pacific and was present at the signing of the Surrender on Sept. 2, 1945 which brought World War II to an end.
