Equine Dreams seeks help to get grant
NEWARK — Equine Dreams has been nominated to be part of the Chase Community Giving program. The charity that receives the most votes will be awarded $250,000, and the remaining 195 top charities earn $10,000 through $100,000 awards, for a total of $5 million in grants. With the support of volunteers, fans and local residents, Equine Dreams has the opportunity to get needed resources.
Social isolation and limited access to services remain major problems to individuals with disabilities. Winning would allow Equine Dreams to further its mission by providing day programs to the four surrounding counties.
Equine Dreams is a not-for-profit therapeutic riding program dedicated to providing free sessions to children and adults with disabilities. The horse provides a unique multidimensional therapy tool. Services are provided for 70 to 80 participants each week. The program is unique in that services are provided free.
The qualified staff is all volunteer, with six certified therapeutic riding instructors, including one physical therapist and one occupational therapist. For more information about Equine Dreams, visit www.equinedreams.org or email ride@equinedreams.org.
“Equine Dreams is constantly striving to strengthen our community by providing these services to individuals with special needs. Receiving even $10,000 would be an unbelievable opportunity to ensure the great work of this organization continues in Kendall, LaSalle, Kane, and DeKalb counties,” said board member Windy Kopecky
