Daryl Stuermer Duo opens Opera House season
SANDWICH — Virtuoso lead guitarist Daryl Stuermer of the super-group Genesis and Phil Collins has been touring the world to sold-out crowds since 1978, creating the signature mega-hit sound.
The inspiration for the Daryl Stuermer Duo came from Stuermer’s Godin LGXT “electracoustic “ guitar; an incredibly versatile instrument that can shift from an electric to acoustic sound with the flip of a switch. Along with his classically trained Russian keyboardist Kostia, Stuermer performs his own instrument compositions as well as some of his favorite Genesis songs.
The Daryl Stuermer Duo will open the 2012-13 season at the Sandwich Opera House at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. The duo offers an opportunity for an intimate, up-close encounter with two virtuoso performers.
Tickets are $25, $20 for seniors 65 and older, and $15 for students and may be purchased at the Opera House Box Office from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 140 E. Railroad St. in Sandwich. Tickets may be reserved with a credit card by calling 815-786-2555 during those hours. The box office will open at 7 p.m. the evening of the show.
Patrons are asked to use the ramp between the Opera House and the City Annex to
access the auditorium until the hand rails are installed. The Opera House is fully handicapped accessible. Tours and facility rentals also may be arranged.
Programs at the Sandwich Opera House are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
