More on the LaSalle Co. 911 signs

Several years ago Sandwich, Sheridan and Somonauk fire departments supplied all of their rural residents with address signs. About a year ago, the LaSalle County Board approved an ordinance to standardize all rural address signs to make it easier for emergency crews to locate residents.

Homes within private subdivisions are exempt. These are subdivisions that have private roads maintained by the subdivision, like Wildwood and Lake Holiday. If the township or county maintains your road, then you are not exempt from this ordinance and need the new address sign in front of your house.

To check for vendors, just go to the LaSalle County website www.lasallecounty.org. The website also contains information on the ordinance, vendors, sign size, colors, etc.

The deadline for the new signs is September 2012.

Hope this helps.
