We wanted to take this opportunity to extend a long overdue and heartfelt thank you to the fire departments and neighbors who offered such welcome assistance during the fire on our property in July. The men and women of the Leland Fire Department, first in responding, and quickly followed by Earlville, Somonauk, Serena and Sandwich fire departments, deserve special recognition for their tireless efforts. Couple their work with the thoughtful help from our neighbors, and it is easy to see why we feel so grateful to be living in such a close-knit community.
