Senior tax levy allocated

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

The Health and Human Services Committee, of which I am a member, has the responsibility of distributing dollars to various service providers for our senior citizens in DeKalb County. We received, reviewed, evaluated and interviewed applicants from throughout DeKalb County. All of the applicant organizations are valuable assets to our county and do a wonderful job assisting the seniors of DeKalb County. Based on the results, we made the following recommendations and received board approval for the following allocations starting July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2013:

Barb City Manor, $9,093; Ben Gordon Center, $16,417; DeKalb County Public Health Department, $27,042; DeKalb County Hospice, $3,900; Elderly Care Services of DeKalb County – Case Management, Elder Abuse & Neglect, and Self-Neglect, $69,200; Family Services Agency of DeKalb County Inc., $63,833; Fox Valley Older Adults, $66.250; Hope Haven, $12,517; Opportunity House, $23,616; Voluntary Action Center – TransVac, and
Voluntary Action Center – Meals On Wheels, $196,000; and Prairie State Legal Services $3,250. The total allocation this year is $491,117.
