Drawdown to benefit scholarship fund set May 4

SANDWICH ­— A complete computer, including a monitor and keyboard, and other major items will be available in a silent auction held during the 13th annual Lou Brady Scholarship Drawdown on Friday, May 4, at the Fox Valley Community Center, 1406 Suydam Road. The event is sponsored by the Sandwich Lions Club.

Some of the other articles offered for the silent auction include a car battery charger and an electric power washer donated by Car Quest of Plano; theme baskets attractive to the ladies at the event; miscellaneous items donated by Plano Molding of Sandwich; and a 125th anniversary Sandwich Fair pin donated by Ron Wallis.

Proceeds from the drawdown are for scholarships for a boy and a girl graduating in the Sandwich High School class of 2012. If the proceeds of the drawdown remain as high as in recent years, the scholarships could be $2,000 each.

Drawing for the winning tickets starts at 6:30 p.m., with a free dinner served at 7:15 p.m. A cash bar is open throughout the evening.

There are 250 tickets available for the drawdown, with 44 of them winning cash in the amounts of $35, $50, $75, $100, up to the last ticket in the drum winning $1,000.

Tickets for the drawdown and free dinner are $30 each. They are available from any Sandwich Lions Club member or at Leo’s Trophy and Gifts, 16 E. Railroad St., in downtown Sandwich. Call Lion Leo Sondgeroth at 815 786-7380 for more information.
