Freedom Days appeared successful

The Freedom Days Festival appeared to be a huge success! The crowd was larger than ever, or so I am told by the many folks that have attended for years. It's a bit of a blur to me but I remember seeing the start of people coming right after the parade and thinking "this is it...it's time" and the next thing I know I look up, and am totally amazed by the mass of people...thinking "where did they all come from so quickly".

Yet, feeling extremely content, as I looked around in amazement, that everyone was happily engrossed in activity and that all of our Volunteer efforts of nine months in planning were now in motion.

I have been asked many times by the vendors that were there and the community that attended, if I will be doing it again next year.  Somehow, what started as a small volunteer effort on my part, or so I thought in the beginning, has turned into a passion, so I want to say with a resounding yes, I will do it again next year.

But I can't. without more help. The few volunteers we have were stretched so thin, both in the planning and at implementing the festival activities. I have had comments of "I will never do that again" but what they meant was they can't put in 45 hours in three days. Seriously, that's what it was Fri-Sun. Set it all up, run it , take it all down and clean it all up, with just a small handful of volunteers.  Imagine cleaning up after 2000+ people...Thank you Hogan Walker for the Gator vehicle that was donated for the festival...the constant garbage detail was immense.

We would like to set the date for Sandwich Freedom Days 2009 within a few weeks and begin the planning stage. Already, we have new ideas formulating to build from the great success of this year! Will you join the Committee which will enable us to have a Freedom Days Festival next year?

I am sorry to say that we, as a very small volunteer group, just can't take it all on.  We want to do it again, but it will only be possible with your help.  We sincerely thank the community for supporting our efforts and making Sandwich Freedom Days 2008 a wonderful event.  Our hope is to be able to do it again next year.
